In class on Friday, we went over the difference between an arithmetic sequence and an arithmetic series. Then we learned how and when to use the two new formulas to calculate the sum of a series (Sn). We had to do p82 # 1-9 and # 16 - 21. The next assignment was handed out, but we don't have to pass it in on Monday. Right now, we should be able to do all but the last two questions on the first page.
On Monday (whether at school or at home if the weather happens to be bad), we'll be learning how to do the last two. Our homework check for Monday will be the problems on p82 (above). We'll be expected to have the first side of the assignment done to hand in on Tuesday morning before classes.
If you missed class on Friday and you're not sure what to do, you can check out the class website for the notes on series or you can read the book p80-81. Ask for help on Monday if you're struggling!
Our next test will be on Wednesday or Thursday. If you're planning to go away early for March Break, you should make arrangements to get it done before you go so you won't have as difficult a time when you get back.
